Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior Infrastructure Engineer to oversee, manage, and execute IT infrastructure initiatives across a regulated, multi-site enterprise environment. This role is critical for ensuring operational stability, infrastructure modernization, and compliance with industry standards in a GxP-compliant manufacturing setting.
You will lead local IT services, including hands-on implementation of servers, firewalls, networking equipment, and endpoint systems. The ideal candidate is not only technically strong but also experienced in leading IT initiatives, coordinating vendors, and enhancing the overall IT service experience for users.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage site-based infrastructure operations across multiple locations in Ireland.
Handle the procurement, imaging, rollout, and configuration of laptops, desktops, and network devices (Cisco, Fortinet, Sonicwall).
Plan, design, and execute infrastructure upgrades including switch and access point replacements in regulated (GMP/GxP) environments.
Coordinate with vendors and cross-functional teams to execute server migrations to Hyper-V/VMware environments, minimizing downtime.
Ensure backup strategies are in place and maintained (e.g., Veeam), including reporting to management on backup success and failures.
Administer Active Directory, Office 365, and endpoint management tools.
Provide on-call and hands-on support for mission-critical manufacturing systems such as Empower, Moda, and Trackwise.
Manage physical IT infrastructure including LAN/WAN setup, fiber installations, and long-distance Wi-Fi setups.
Maintain compliance with IT quality policies, perform risk assessments, and drive documentation in line with healthcare/regulated industry standards.
Collaborate with global IT teams to implement local infrastructure projects and act as hands & eyes for remote engineering teams when needed.
Required Experience:
10+ years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure engineering and support.
Proven leadership in multi-site IT operations, especially within Life Sciences, Pharma, or Manufacturing.
Deep expertise in Microsoft technologies including Windows Server, AD, MDT, Hyper-V, and backup tools like Veeam.
Networking expertise with Cisco, Fortinet, Sonicwall – including installation, configuration, and firewall VPN setup.
Experience with validated environments and GxP standards.
Strong project management skills for site rollouts, infrastructure refreshes, and system migrations.
Skilled in vendor and stakeholder engagement, issue resolution, and escalation management.
Desirable Qualifications:
MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
Experience with regulated software platforms such as Empower, Moda, Trackwise
Knowledge of ITIL processes and service desk workflows
Degree in Computer Science or a related field
